Out of all the "launch-esque" games I've played on Newgrounds this one certainly does it the best. The concept along with the characters and environment made for a funny world within the game. I was very happy with the animation and the power ups as well. It doesn't drag on for hours like other games like this does and that made it all the more fun to play:D I thoroughly enjoyed playing it and I do look forward to more games like this in the future. I wish you luck on your future endeavors.
It's such a simple flash but it just manages to connect to me in such a subtle but awesome way!
It's funny because I can relate to all of this, there are times when I would just bust out an old gaming console and play old games! This game in particular I manage to beat a few times a year just because I love it. Mario RPG is an amazing game and you honestly couldn't have picked a better game or song from that game for this animation!
On the plus side:
+Like I said I loved the game and song you picked so thats one
+The humor is on a good level and I liked how you meshed the old and new generations of gaming to add to the humor.(Master Chief criticizing Mario RPG)
On the negative:
-The animation is kind of low grade as far as visual appeal go
-There are some long pauses between some of the speaking
So thats the low down I gotta admit I liked this a lot!
I must admit for such a short film that appears to be just a silly little clip actually brought out such a deeper meaning. It may not be what you were going for but I gathered that Christmas is a spirit and no matter how deranged or psycho someone is a spirit is an entity that can fill anyone with that warm glow inside. I'm Thoroughly impressed
I was really blown away by this I honestly was. I am a big fan of all of the stick movies but you raised the bar for making them. This was honestly one of the best flashes I've ever seen. I know you dont know anything about me but I am a very serious grader and I love critiquing its my thing so heres my feelings on the whole thing.
My feelings:
+Marvelous visuals for a stick movie, they really blew me away for a flash
+I loved especially how you gave no background to Garrett, it makes him more mysterious that way it helps fit the persona of a thief
+Loved how well the foot movement audio meshed with the actual movement, none of the sound effects seemed out of place and that is a great achievement for a flash artist.
+I loved also how you gave a lot of different personalities to all the different characters, for example the guard who walks passed the room that garrett is hiding in that was talking to himself, its such a miniscule detail but it helps make the characters more lovable and realistic and it made the flash come alive more. In most flash artists tend to give the same or similar personalities to all of their characters. Brilliant characters
+Fantastic premise for a story too because it really threw me off. When I saw the title I figured it was a parody and I was gonna get some good laughs in, but in a story that has a funny premise you managed to turn it into a badass stealth tale. That was amazing
-Unfortunately with all great flash comes a few downers so here they are: For one thing some of the characters movements seemed sluggish at times like when Garrett jumped for the two balconies.
-Also Garrett is supposed to be the best thief in the world so he should be a talented archer, everytime he took his bow out to take a shot with it he took his bittersweet time and any stealth video game player or actual spy knows that time is never on your side in espionage.
-The last negative is that it ended:[ I was really saddened when it ended so I hope to see a sequal to this eventually.
Overall this was an amazing flash animation that I am definitely adding to my favorites, 5/5 10/10
I'm gonna tell you right now that I normally hate videos that go on a loop but your loop was so perfect he falls through the ground and back into the boss chamber, thats brilliant!
As far as the animation itself goes:
-I love sprite battles and this one was exceptionally good
-I loved the use of megaman characters
-The music meshed well with the animation loved it!
As for things I dont like:
-Well even though I love sprites these 8 bit sprites are a bit awkward so some of the fighting did look a little weird but the fighting still came out nicely so it wasnt as bad as I might make it seem.
-And the dialogue was in spanish-_- I'm sure spanish speaking people dont mind it but I only know a little spanish and couldnt translate the whole thing. I really liked the fighting and i would like to enjoy the story as well!
Not a bad premise for a storyline I like where its going and I see great potential from it, however for future reference try making it interactive so we can choose when to continue the dialogue or at least make the boxes stay up longer so that we can read them. I felt that at times it progressed a little too fast and I'm a pretty quick reader. But other than that great job!
I remember watching Golden Boy years ago and this was byfar my favorite episode of it. I really enjoyed how this whole scene looks almost identical for every frame he was swimming it was actually quite astounding. The audio was also synced very well. there isnt much to complain about I mean its a short clip and its a rendition of an anime. All I can say is great job and I look forward to seeing more of your submissions. 4/5=D
Well here is what I think. I like the idea so far and you do have intentions to expand upon it so heres my input.
Alright well the mechanics seem to be working great so far so that goes to show that the game can be a great success. I think you should consider putting game modes in such as: Beat the clock or Free Play mode where you can just fool around with it without having to worry about a clock. Also another thing would be putting multiple bubbles on the screen to increase difficulty.
Also one thing that I think really should be changed are the colors. Think of the people that have vision problems, you have a black background with red circles that have black in them. In order to to accommodate everyone it would be wise to put a bright color against the dark background. Other than that this beta does seem like a success and I wish you luck on your future endeavors.
Wow is all I can say. Usually when I look at the under judgement submissions I expect a lot of low quality and subpar work but this is completely the opposite!
Things I liked:
-The animation was fantastic not a single thing was out of place it all meshed well together.
-The music fit the scenes perfectly and the music by itself was really good in general
-I loved how the characters didnt speak until the end, when characters dont speak it gives you a better look into them and it makes you try to figure out what they are thinking and I love when animators use that technique because it makes characters so much more loveable.
-The sound effects were also top notch I commend you on those as well.
Things that could be worked on:
-Honestly not too much this piece was extremely good and the only thing that should be worked on is the next part.
I look forward to seeing more from you. Excellent job
I liked this movie a lot and I'll give you the benefit of the doubt seeing as how most people who make submissions for madness day usually are short on time for doing these submissions and while the fighting seemed kinda slow paced and rushed at parts I still liked the way it turned out. It had the traditional Madness style with your own little twist to it. It was really good.
Thanks, very helpful review.
I know exactly what you mean with the slow paced fighting and rushed parts, although I had to in the week I entirely made it t get it finished on time.
For my next project I will take the time to make sure the quality won't suffer from a lack of time.
And thanks for giving me the benefit of the doubt ;)
